[170/365] Library run.

youve probably already been asked that but do you think graphic novels should be included as part of the books in the book challenge?
There is a bit of debate about this, but for me the book challenge was always for fun. If you start getting into a debate over what qualifies due to length, then not only would you have to get rid of other things like children’s books, but then it makes it seem like it’s something for school and it’s really just for yourself.

Volunteer shelf reading sounds like fun, maybe I'm just a giant book nerd! Do you enjoy it? I bet you do! I think it is just a personal preference, when it comes to counting graphic novels. I count every single one, but I've thought about it a lot. I've considered it cheating before, but I decided to count them for a number of reasons. Most importantly, because I consider them books just as much as a 400 page novel. Just as exciting and wonderful to read! :)
It is fun! I worry that I’ll mess up and misplace something and the whole library will fall apart due to my mistake. That has yet to actually happen.
I think you’re right- I am going to count graphic novels in my book challenge.

You say on your 50 Book Challenge page that you aren't counting graphic novels in your count. I've been reading a lot of graphic novels this year and have faced the problem of whether or not to count them as well. Could you explain why you don't?
I’ve always been torn on this! Sometimes I have I counted them, or maybe I counted multiple as one (like both of the Persepolis’ counted as 1 book.) I’m always changing my mind about it. I think if I start reading more this year I’ll start counting them. Chopsticks took no time for me to read, so I think that’s why I never counted it. There wasn’t a lot of text. I used to get some people bothering me about my book challenges and maybe I thought they would accuse me of cheating by counting graphic novels, since some people used to accuse me of lying about my numbers, back in 2011. Really, the book challenge is just for fun, so there isn’t anything wrong with counting graphic novels. It really is less about the amount of time I put into reading and more about how many stories I get to immerse myself in.

Do you like graphic novels?
I haven’t really read any, for some reason. I read Persepolis and I have Scott Pilgrim on hold at my library. And that’s it. I used to read comics when I was younger, but not that often.

Also, Why do you not count graphic novels in your book challenge?
I was counting at first, but then I started to worry that it was cheating and that I should only count all six in the Scott Pilgrim series as one for the challenge. What do you think- should I count all of them or maybe every 2?
I moved around some books and divided my YA novels by genre: Realistic Fiction together and fantasy/paranormal/dystopia separate. John Green has his own shelf (x)

Do you like poetry as much as novels? If so, who are your favourite poets, and could you recommend any poetry books or books about poetry?
I wouldn’t say I like poetry as much as novels, but I do really enjoy it. I like Ariel by Sylvia Plath, Skin Divers by Anne Michaels, Not Much Fun by Dorothy Parker and Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman. I don’t know any books about poetry, though. I also like E.E. Cummings, Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson.
Whether that means linking to flickr or deviantart or only posting their own pictures, as far as I know these blogs never use weheartit or post anything uncredited. I’m sure I missed a lot, but here’s some.

Hey, I read your FAQ list first (whih is very informative btw, i will utilize it often. thanks!) but I didn't see any questions pertaining to my question. I was wondering if you could recommend any novels about women in college or their early 20s. YA novels tend to have characters in their mid-teens, some of which I enjoy, but I'd like to read some books with characters my own age and I'm having trouble finding some good ones. If you have any suggestions that would be great! Thanks : )
I find this difficult too! I keep hearing that Easy by Tammara Webber is good. I would recommend Just One Day and Bass Ackwards and Belly Up, although they’re about girls in first year.
Read the things people think you shouldn’t, prove you have an open mind.
