Currently Reading: My Last Three Library Books before China!
I am going to miss my local library so much when I go to China. It was named Library of the Year for good reason!
The first Little Free Library in Toronto. You can read more about the project here.
"Books. People never really stop loving books. Fifty-first century. By now you’ve got holovids, direct-to-brain downloads, fiction mist. But you need the smell. The smell of books, Donna. Deep breath!"
— The Doctor, Doctor Who
Yes, this is how I spend my time. And I don’t really have enough books for this to be necessary, but I did it anyways.
I have a kobo touch and I’m very happy with it! I read e-books occasionally, although I’ve only bought one. I mainly read library books, e-galleys and the free classics. To be honest, I use my e-reader either because a) it’s the most convenient way to get the book (if my library has the e-book but not the physical book,) or b) I’m on vacation and don’t want to bring a bunch of heavy books when I can just bring my kobo. So while I don’t use my e-reader that much (mainly because I’ve already bought so many physical books that I have to read, and because I’m always finding books on the shelves while I volunteer at the library) I am very glad I have a kobo!
Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested (by *Cinnamon)
Day 21- Favourite picture book as a child
The Gypsy Princess by Phoebe Gilman
I’m actually going to answer this question (what is your favourite children’s book) in two parts. My favourite picture book was The Gypsy Princess. When I was in kindergarten no one below grade one was allowed to take out school library books, but the librarian made an exception and let me take out this one, which I loved. I have to admit, I always wanted to be a gypsy and dance with bears, over being a princess and dancing at balls.
Everything Phoebe Gilman has written is brilliant though: she wrote Granny and the Pirates, Something from Nothing, the Jillian Jiggs books, The Balloon Tree….

Lots of new books! From the library: The Outcasts of 19 Schuyler Place by E.L. Konigsburg, How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell, In a Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson, Alice on Board by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, The Madness Underneath by Maureen Johnson, andA Letter from Frank: An Unlikely Second World War Friendship by Stephen J. Colombo. I also bought My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin.

Not very many books in the past two weeks for me: I took out Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan from the library, which I’m currently reading. I also bought a journal: the gold text says a bunch of things, but it was “she believed she could so she did” that caught my eye.
What new books did you receive this past week?
